Abstract:

The distribution of stable layers with height at Paraparaumu has been investigated using radiosonde data. Layers of maximum stability are most frequent about 850 hPa with a gradual decrease at greater heights. Inversions (increasing temperature with height) occur in about 80% of the soundings showing that significant stability is a normal occurrence.
